If the local currency is one of our 18 wallet currencies, and a merchant or an ATM asks if you’d like to use the local currency or your home currency, always opt for the local currency.
If you opt for your home currency, they will use a service known as Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) whereby the retailer converts your payment back into your home currency at an exchange rate of their choosing. We always advise that if the ATM is asking you to accept an exchange rate or conversion query, you will need to select "No". The rate is usually bad and allows them to levy you with an extra charge.
As you’ve already taken advantage of WeSwap’s great rates there’s no need for you to suffer these charges.
If you are travelling to a country with any other official currency, and a merchant or an ATM asks if you’d like to use the local currency or your home currency, always opt for the local currency, the official currency of the country you are in. The system will automatically charge you on your home wallet and we will do the exchange for you. So if you've been asked to accept an exchange or conversion fee always select "NO".
