Please note, if you held a WeSwap card issued by IDT Financial Services (you can see this on the back of your WeSwap Card), and you still had funds on your closed account, you will need to directly request the refund to IDT Financial Services.
Are the funds in the old WeSwap account safe?
Don’t worry, your money is safe. Your money is held in a secure, segregated account with our previous issuing bank IDT Financial Services.
Why can’t I access my old account?
You should have received an email confirming, as from midnight the 31st August 2021, all accounts and cards issued by IDT Financial Services have stopped working.
From then on, your account could not be accessed via the App or Web Dashboard, the old App (with the yellow icon) will no longer work, and you should now uninstall it.
If you chose to migrate by midnight the 13th September 2021, your money was moved over to your new account. If you did not complete this within the deadline, your money continues to be in a segregated account held by our old issuing bank, IDT Financial Services.
You can get a full refund free of charge directly from IDT for up to six years. Any money will be refunded in GBP, even if the money in your account was stored in a different currency wallet. If the money needs to be converted back to GBP, you won’t be charged for this.
How do I request a refund?
You can request a refund, by contacting IDT Financial Services at email@example.com from your registered WeSwap email address with the following details:
- Account holder name
- The name of your bank (e.g. Barclays) used to load your OLD WeSwap account
- Bank sort code
- Bank account number
- a PDF version of your current account bank statement, not older than 3 months, where your name and address details can be verified along with account details (account number and sort code, name of the bank). Please note that they do not need to see your activities or balance, if you wish you can mask those.
What if I made a bank transfer on the old account after the 31st August 2021?
As soon as IDT Financial Services receives the bank transfer, the funds are returned back to the source. This is because the account is now closed, and we are unable to credit the funds to it.
You will see the funds in your bank account within 3-5 days from when you made the bank transfer.
Please delete the payee details you currently hold for WeSwap (Account name: IDTFS Re WeSwap - Sort code: 62-31-38 is no longer active) as these are for the old account. And remember to cancel any recurring payment you may have set up.
What if I still want to use WeSwap?
Great! Just download the WeSwap App from either the Google Play Store or the Apple Store, the WeSwap App has a brand new logo with a blue background icon:
From the App, accept the new T&Cs and follow the prompts to verify your account.
Once the account is verified, you’ll be able to request your new card on the App after loading and it arrives within 3-5 working days.
Please be mindful, any funds that are held in your old closed account cannot be transferred on the new account, and you should request the refund as per the above paragraph "How do I request a refund? ".
